Mutina – Motivo
Motivo is a collection designed by Ronan Bouroullec for Mutina, drawing inspiration from the traditional wooden wall panelling typical of boiserie, reinterpreted in a contemporary key through ceramic material.
It is a modular system that both protects and defines the wall, shaping the space with lightness and depth. Born from childhood memories of grandparents’ homes and inspired by the interiors of old Scottish castles, Motivo is an act of care—a surface that interacts with light and enriches the space without overwhelming it.
The collection takes shape as a harmonious composition of glazed double-fired elements (14×28 cm) with a matte finish, one metallic-finish element, and unglazed porcelain stoneware rods (UGL) in full-body coloured clays (2.8×28 cm, in “T”, “L” and “Terminale” shapes). Each element is available in six matt colours: White, Chalk, Limestone, Earth, Arctic and Graphite, and one metallic colour: Silver.
This combination of linear geometric elements with matt tiles creates a play of shadows and reliefs that gives the wall a distinctive character.
